Context

A few years ago, while volunteering at a local food bank, I realized that there was a significant gap in the donation process. Many people wanted to contribute their surplus food and non-food items, but the existing methods were often inconvenient or lacked transparency. I saw an opportunity to bridge this gap and leverage technology to streamline the process of donating and supporting NGOs.

I conducted extensive research, speaking with individuals who regularly donated, NGOs, and community organizations. I discovered common pain points and challenges faced by donors, such as the lack of user-friendly platforms, difficulty coordinating logistics, and the desire for transparency regarding the impact of their contributions.

Inspired by these insights, I envisioned an app called "Share&Care" that would revolutionize the donation experience. The app would provide a seamless and convenient platform for users to donate their excess food and non-food items to reputable NGOs. With a focus on user-centric design and transparent processes, I aimed to create an app that would inspire and engage a wide range of donors.

Problem Statement

The current donation process for excess food and non-food items to NGOs and charitable organizations lacks convenience, transparency, and efficient logistics coordination. Donors face challenges in finding reputable organizations, coordinating item drop-off or pick-up, and understanding the impact of their contributions. How might we streamlined solution that enhances the donation experience, fosters transparency, and connects donors with reputable NGOs?

Target Audience

  1. Individuals with surplus food and non-food items: This includes households, individuals, and families who regularly have excess groceries, clothing, household items, or other possessions that they are willing to donate.
  2. NGOs and Charitable Organizations: Partnering with established NGOs and charitable organizations that focus on addressing social needs in India and have the infrastructure to effectively distribute donated items.
  3. Local Businesses: Restaurants, supermarkets, retailers, and other businesses that often have surplus food or unsold inventory that can be donated.
  4. Community Organizations: Clubs, associations, and community groups that can organize donation drives and encourage their members to participate in the app's initiatives.
